Intercordia Canada

My time in San Luis, Ecuador marked a pivotal point in my undergraduate career. Intercordia provided an opportunity to stop, sit still, and think about what I value. It wasn’t easy to be still at first. Stripped of my language skills, I felt powerless and was completely dependent on my host family. I knew before I went to Ecuador that I cared about social justice but after I returned these issues took on new meaning. They are no longer about some distant, faceless people. They are about my host family.
I am currently pursuing a master’s degree at Harvard Divinity School where my work is focused on issues of race, gender, sexuality, and post colonialism. I plan to enter into academia. My desire is to bring my experience as an Intercordian into the theoretical world of the university. Though I might not work in a traditional social justice role, I believe I can be an agent of change.
