Voluntourism: Helping or Hurting?
Spending two weeks on the beach basking in the sun is a common way to enjoy spring break vacation. But in the past decade, many young Canadians are opting to lend a helping hand in the developing world instead. Travel and altruism combine in voluntourism: the act of volunteering and traveling abroad. Critics argue that oftentimes these volunteers have a lack of training or understanding of the culture they visit. Advocates say the impacts are minimal. How is voluntourism shaping the Canadian image abroad?

University of Saskatchewan - Information Sessions at STM will be Sept. 14th, 11:30 to 12:30, Room 344A at STM College and 5pm – 6pm, Room 344A and Sept. 15 12:00 – 12:45, Room 344A

University of Western Ontario - Information Sessions at Kings University College will be Sept. 23rd, 12:00 – 1 pm, Sept 24th, 12:00 – 12:45 and 7:30 – 8:30 All sessions in DL 112
