One challenging relationship that I’ve had….

One challenging relationship that I’ve had to work on is with the houseworkers at my house, T. and L. Neither of them went past primary school so they speak very basic English. In the beginning they didnt really talk to me at all and they mostly just stared at me and observed my actions. Gradually however I would sit outside with them and sit in the kitchen and watch them cook. Slowly they would start asking me what things were in English and I would do the same. After a few weeks we started to get really close and we had a lot of reallky fun times. They act really different when its just me and them than when my host father is around. They’re a lot more serious when he’s around but with me they love to crack jokes and laugh. They also are really adament about learning English, everyday when I come home they take out their notebooks and ask me to teach them. They love to learn and they love practising with me. Even though we can hardly understand each other, our relationship is evolving. It really seems like they’re enjoying my presence because they’re always really happy to see me come home from school and I’m equally excited to see them.
