My experience in the Intercordia Canada program has been one that has touched my heart in a variety of ways. Upon initially hearing of the Intercordia program being launched at St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto, I was unsure whether I was ready to embark upon a journey of its kind. Little did I know then, Intercordia would soon become a significant part of my life.

Each stage of the Intercordia program—be it the academic seminars, the formational preparation, or my three-month placement in Ghana during summer 2007—presented opportunities for community building, personal growth and exciting adventure. However, when the program had officially come to an end, I knew that I was not yet ready to say goodbye.

Having learned that there was an opportunity to join the staff of Intercordia, I gladly said yes. I felt it to be a great privilege to have the opportunity to journey along with future students as they pass through the various stages of the Intercordia program, unearthing their personal hopes and dreams.

And so I stand, in awe, listening to the many stories that the returning Intercordia students tell about their host families, their work placements, the communities which they became a part of and the relationships they built—and it gives me great joy to be able to, in however small a way, become a part of those memorable learning experiences.
