Rwanda, The Land of 1000 Hills, so much beauty and so much hardship.
I have returned from a visit to Fair Children/Youth Foundation in northern Rwanda with so many memories and emotions. Rwanda is named the land of 1,000 hills and there is hardly a flat spot or a straight road in the country. Even the capital, Kilgali, is build over three hills and going from one part of the city to another on a moto taxi means going down into a valley only to climb back up onto another hill. Everywhere is a spectacular view!
Rwanda is a small country, right in the heart of Africa and of course the name immediatley evokes the civil war and genocide of the early nineties. But of course one story cannot capture the complexity of a country with a thousand year old history and millions of beautiful, honest, hard working people.
