Fair Children Youth Foundation (FCYF)
Fair Children Youth Foundation (FCYF) was created in 2003 to restore human rights and to rebuild lives and community in Rwanda. It is based in Musanze in northern Rwanda.
FCYF hosts a broad variety of different programs, from early childhood development, nursery education and primary schooling to training programs for community leaders and volunteer mentors in counselling and psycho-social support skills. Support programs for hearing-impaired children and others with learning disabilities, literacy training for older youth and women, and vocational training for people affected by HIV/AIDS are also part of FCYF’s work.
Intercordia sent its first three students to Rwanda in 2011 where they taught at Wisdom School, which opened in January 2010. Two hundred and twenty students attended the school when it first opened - by the end of the 2011 school year there were already 595 registered primary students. Basic schooling and education for Musanze’s children remains a top priority for FCYF and its community, and so the construction continues as the number of students enrolling is growing rapidly.
